For Koen Vogel, the choice of employment law is a logical outcome of his background and interests. The intersection between people, work and regulations, combined with the dynamics of flexible employment relationships, makes this area of the law particularly fascinating for him.
Koen studied Law at Leiden University, where he also obtained a master’s degree in European Law. In his master’s thesis, he examined the Temporary Protection Directive for Ukrainian refugees, which further strengthened his interest in the interplay between European law and employment law.
interest in the interplay between European law and employment law.
Before switching to the legal profession, Koen worked as a policy advisor on labour migration at the Federation of Private Employment Agencies (ABU), where he developed a broad view of the challenges and opportunities within the flexible labour sector. Based on that experience, he understands how regulations affect daily practice and where employers need concrete solutions.
Within the Labour & Flex team, Koen uses that knowledge and experience to advise and guide clients on a wide range of issues. He always aims to strike a balance between legal sustainability and practical applicability, with an eye for the interests of all the parties involved.
“Because I experienced daily practice up close in my previous job, I know how new laws and regulations affect business operations in the flex sector. I understand the challenges that employment agencies face and find it interesting to look for solutions in those conflicting interests. The combination of social debate, economic necessity and the legal complexity of flexible employment relationships makes this a challenging and valuable field of work for me.”
