Within the team, Mathijs focuses primarily on insolvency law, an area of law where legal complexity and practical reality converge. He supports entrepreneurs and directors in restructuring, directors’ liability, and insolvency proceedings.
He approaches his work with a proactive attitude, personal commitment and an entrepreneurial mindset. Mathijs believes that legal advice must truly match a client’s needs. That’s why he looks beyond the legal issue alone and also likes to get to know the entrepreneur behind it.
Mathijs obtained his bachelor’s degree in Law and his master’s degree in Business & Law at Utrecht University. During his studies, he gained experience at two leading law firms in Amsterdam. Mathijs has worked at Köster since September 2024 and was sworn in as a lawyer in February 2025.
