Elma works for the Insolvency & Restructuring and the Corporate Law teams. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Law and master’s degree in Private Law from the University of Amsterdam. She also studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam, where she obtained her master’s degree in Finance. After completing her studies, her heart ultimately lay with the law. She wrote her master’s thesis on cross-border restructuring in light of the Mobility Directive.
Corporate law, and insolvency law in particular, are a perfect fit for her two degrees. Her numerical insight and in-depth legal knowledge enable her to quickly understand complex issues. They give her the tools to make the link between the relevant figures and the consequences of those figures for the legal assessment. These are valuable qualities for the issues she deals with.
Elma completed a two-month traineeship at Köster in January 2022. She started as a legal assistant on 23 August 2023 and was sworn in as a lawyer in January 2023.
